3-Day Electric Bike Tour

~Off the beaten track in Tokyo~

This area, which is called Nishitama, is a neighborhood located to the west of the metropolitan area in Tokyo. There are no crowds, no skyscrapers and no bustle of a city, but there are mountains, rivers, good old Japanese culture and sound of nature. It's a part of a national park. In such surroundings, people and nature coexist in harmony.

Day 1 ~Hidden area in Tokyo~

1. Meet at JR Musashi-itsukaichi Station

 

Meet a guide at the ticket gate in the station.

*We can also meet at JR Shinjuku station. Please let us know ahead if you need.

Rent a bike and depart for an adventurous cycling in the mountain side of Tokyo. 

                                                                         

On this day, we will go up to a mountain after a moderate cycling along the Akigawa Gorge.

Akigawa River runs through this area and it's a sources of environmental sustainability around here. Enjoy seeing beautiful scenery of a stream. After lunch, we will run 12 km-long uphill road to ride a exciting vehicle to the hidden area.

2. Historic Temple "Koutokuji Temple"

 

This historic temple, founded in 1373, is standing in a quiet area with a thatch-roofed entrance gate covered with moss.

In the precincts of this temple, there are huge Kaya tree (=Japanese torreya 24.5 m) and Tara Yow tree (=Latifolia 19.1 m) designated as a natural monument of Tokyo Metropolis. Also, there are cherry trees and gigantic Ginkgo trees. So you can enjoy the nature of seasons like beautiful views of cherry blossoms in spring, changing leaves in autumn.

3. Lunch at Local Restaurant

 

Enjoy Japanese dishes like ramen noodles, rice bowls and curry rices.

4. Monorail Ride & Traditional Folk House

 

There is one traditional house built in the early 18th century with a thatched roof on a mountain.

A small monorail car takes us to this historical architecture located at an altitude of 750 meters. This vehicle slowly goes up on a steep slope and it’s so exciting.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

At the top of the ridge, azaleas bloom in bright pink and a festival is held in spring.

You will see the inside of the important cultural property and a life style of those days.

5. Foot Bathing in a hot spring

 

Bathing foot in a hot spring is popular in Japan. By promoting blood circulation, your whole body gets warm without taking all your clothes off. There are many nerves in foot as known as a second heart, so you can also expect relaxing and detoxification effects.

6. Conclude at JR Musashi-itsukaichi Station

 

After returning e-bikes, we will go to a city hotel by train.
