This tour is a light hiking tour. We will visit the Nanakuni Pass, where the seven provinces (today's seven municipalities) could be seen in the olden days, and then head to the highlight of the tour, the Shiofune Kannon(Goddess of Mercy).

2. Azaleas at Yakuo-ji Temple
Its origins date back to the period of the Northern and Southern Dynasties. For about 700 years since then, Yakuo-ji Temple has been dedicated to Yakushi Nyorai as its principal deity. Since the Edo period(1603~1867), it has been worshipped by the local community as a good cure for eye diseases.
The principal image is typically kept secret, and the door is locked and sealed tightly. This door is only allowed to open once every 30 years. The azaleas that fill the temple grounds make the temple landscape even more attractive at this time of year.
3. Azaleas at Shiofune Kan'non-ji Temple
The 15-meter tall standing statue of Kannon Bodhisattva is one of the features of the Shiofune Kannonji Temple besides historical buildings designated as cultural properties, huge Japanese cedar tree designated as a natural monument.
As many as 17,000 azaleas bloom from mid-April to early May. A lot of people come to view the carpet of flowers.
4. Local beer and lunch at Ome Bakushu
It is a really nice opportunity to taste different taps from the locals at the cozy atmosphere after the outside viewing.
*The menu in the pic is example.
5. Stroll around JR Ome station
This popular tourist destination is famous as the birthplace of Japan's Showa-era (1926 - 1989) retro. In the Ome shopping arcade, which is like a time slip back to the Showa period, there is the Showa Retro Products Museum*, where we can experience the lifestyle and culture of the Showa period, which lasted for 64 years, including confectionery, beverages, miscellaneous goods, stationery and medicines that were sold in the Showa period, including valuable packages not preserved even by manufacturers. We can see the culture of daily life in the Showa era. Furthermore, visitors can also see the works of the last signboard painter, Mr Kubo Itakan.
